Los Alamos County Atomic City Transit Suspends Route 2M (Main Hill), Route 6 Peak, Dial-A-Ride Effective Immediately

COUNTY News:

Effective Immediately Atomic City Transit (ACT) Route 2M (Main Hill), Route 6 Peak and Dial-a-Ride services are suspended through the remainder of the day due to a staffing shortage.

Riders should plan to use Route 2T (Truck Route) and fixed Route 6, which will continue to operate on regular schedule 5:55 a.m. until 6:58 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Atomic City Transit Requiring Social Distancing And Limiting Capacity Beginning Thursday Jan. 13

COUNTY News:

Due to the increased number of positive cases in Los Alamos and surrounding areas, Atomic City Transit will adhere to 6-foot social distancing and limiting capacity on fixed route services beginning Thursday, Jan. 13. 

To maintain employee and passenger safety we continue to require that all passengers wear a face covering to board and ride the bus.

SFNF Issues Orders For Seasonal Road Closures On Española, Cuba And Jemez Districts

SFNF News:

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) Monday issued separate closure orders for seasonal road closures on the Española, Cuba and Jemez Ranger Districts.

The orders are issued to protect public safety during the winter months and to prevent damage to natural resources and infrastructure.

Order 10-499 for the Española Ranger District prohibits traffic on the following restricted roads:

  • Forest Road (FR) 31 starting at the gate south of La Careda and continuing south for approximately 10.6 miles;

Blue Bus 255 Mountain Trail Winter Service Begins Jan. 15

RTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District (RTD) Blue Bus 255 Mountain Trail route from downtown Santa Fe to Ski Santa Fe begins operating on its winter service schedule Saturday, Jan. 15.

During the winter season, the 255 Mountain Trail provides seven roundtrips on the weekends and three roundtrips Monday through Friday. The Mountain Trail provides service through downtown Santa Fe up Hyde Park Road to trailheads in the Santa Fe National Forest and Hyde State Park, concluding at Ski Santa Fe where riders can be dropped off steps from the ticket window and lifts.

Diamond Drive Lane Closure Between 38th & 36th Jan. 13

Eastbound Right Lane Closure On Diamond Between 38-36 Streets Jan. 13

Los Alamos County traffic electricians will be repairing a streetlight damaged during a vehicle accident.

The streetlight is at the corner of 36th Street and Diamond Drive.

The Eastbound right lane will be closed between 39th and 38th streets to just past 36th Street.

Motorists will be directed to merge to the left eastbound lane on Diamond Drive at 38th Street. Please follow all traffic devices and slow down in the work zone.

Work is scheduled between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13.

NCRTD Announces Martin Luther King Holiday Closure

RTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District (RTD) has announced that the RTD “Blue Buses” will not be in service Monday, Jan. 17, in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday.

The exception will be the 255 RTD Mountain Trail route to Ski Santa Fe, which will operate.

Due to the sharp rise in reported COVID-19 cases in Los Alamos County, and the extremely high transmissibility of Omicron, the Thrift Shop of the United Church of Los Alamos will not be open for sales the next two Wednesdays, Jan. 12 and Jan. 19.
