New Mexico State Police Probe Fatal Crash Near Tularosa

NMSP News:

OTERO COUNTY – At around 11:30 a.m. Aug. 4, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on U.S. Highway 54, milepost 99 north of Tularosa.

The initial investigation indicates that a four door Mercedes passenger vehicle driven by a 15-year-old juvenile male from Carrizozo was traveling south on U.S. 54 when for unknown reasons the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a north bound Volvo CMV driven by a 53-year-old Texas man.

The memory of Lukas Drake Lucero was honored this morning with a Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church followed by a special gathering in the parish hall. Lucero was born Aug. 9, 1990 and died March 18, 2020. A public service was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and held today for all to attend and celebrate his wonderful life. Rockfall Mitigation Begins On N.M. 502 In Los Alamos Area

NMDOT News:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with GeoStabilization International (GSI) will begin a rockfall mitigation project Monday Aug. 16, in the Los Alamos area.

Due to its composition, the existing hillside is subject to rockfalls during rain and snow events, which can pose a danger to passing motorists.

The project will remove any rocks that are deemed a threat to motorists, under controlled conditions.

The project is expected to take 10 working days to complete, weather permitting.

NCRTD Resumes Service On 290 Edgewood Route Aug. 9

RTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District’s RTD Blue Bus will resume regular route and scheduled service on the 290 Edgewood route Monday, Aug. 9.

The route had been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 290 Edgewood route provides weekday fare-free commuter bus service from Edgewood, Moriarty, Stanley and Galisteo to points throughout the City of Santa Fe.
