NMDOT Supports Car Seat Inspections Year Round

SANTA FE ― The New Year brings a new schedule for car and booster seat inspections. The New Mexico Department of Transportation and Safer New Mexico Now will host car seat inspection clinics and fitting stations statewide in 2020.
 
This free educational event provides parents and caregivers the opportunity to receive hands-on instruction from nationally-certified child passenger safety technicians. Technicians will educate parents on the proper selection, installation and use of car seats and booster seats.

County Offers New Year’s Eve Buzz Bus Dec. 31

If you need a safe ride on New Year’s Eve, Los Alamos County, the DWI-Planning Council and Atomic City Transit are here to help.
 
The “Buzz Bus,” will be operating to encourage people not to drink and drive, allow residents not to weather the roads, and to put their safety first. The skilled drivers of the ACT program will transport anyone safely throughout the community.
 
The bus will operate at 6 p.m. from Tues. Dec. 31 and continue through 12:30 a.m., Jan. 1. The Dial-A-Ride program can be reached at 661-RIDE or 505.661.7433.

One of our most poignant memories of Los Alamos is the vision of Lucy Goose sitting outside the Hen House yard, watching two chicken chicks play over and around their adoptive mother, Turkey 2.
 
We called her “Little Bear” because she survived a bear attack on the bomb proof nest boxes Don built.
 
It was the spring of 2014 when Turkey’s vigil ended. In just a few weeks the chicks had grown up enough to run around exploring the Hen House yard by themselves.
