Well … it’s been a little while since I’ve seen a doomsayer prediction in the news … “The end is coming! … at X o’clock on [insert specific date here … rinse and repeat]” type. One can’t help but wonder why some who ascribe to the inerrancy of Biblical scriptures seem to forget Jesus: “Heaven and earth will pass away…But of that day and hour NO ONE knows…” (Matthew 24:35-36) Yet, despite such assurances from Jesus Himself, such predictions linger. The Public Works/Traffic Division provides the latest updates on the following project:

N.M. 502 Road Construction/Roundabout:

In order to build the new Canyon Road connection, it is necessary to install an 8” waterline across N.M. 502 at Arroyo Lane. This will require a flagging operation, which is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

The plan is for Star Paving to complete construction of the Canyon Road connection and then close the existing Canyon Road at a time/date yet to be determined. More information will be available in the next Cone Zone.

SFNF Forest Road 102 Closing For Winter

SANTA FE ― The Espanola Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) is closing Forest Road (FR) 102 through Pacheco Canyon for the winter season.
 
Gates are already locked at the junction of FR 102, also known as Pacheco Canyon Road, and N.M. 475, the road to the Santa Fe ski basin, and at the junction of FR 102 and FR 412.
 
The public can access the western end of FR 102 from Santa Fe County Road 76 to reach the Aspen Ranch Trailhead this weekend, but that gate will be locked for the winter on Monday morning.
