Art On Tap is 5:30 p.m. Thursday at UnQuarked Wine Room at 145 Central Park Square in downtown Los Alamos.

In conjunction with the Celebration of Clay Exhibit arriving shortly at the Fuller Lodge Art Center, the topic is Pueblo pottery. Northern New Mexico is known for the distinctive pottery handmade by Pueblo artists. Led by Chris Judson, pieces from several local Pueblos will be displayed and there will be a discussion about the traditional ways used to make and decorate them. Read More

The Los Alamos Cooperative Market Board of Directors has announced that after a national search, it has hired a new general manager.

Scott Brelsford will begin in his new role by Sept. 1. Brelsford has worked as the general manager of the Moonflower Community Cooperative in Moab, Utah and the People’s Grocery Cooperative in Manhattan, Ks. He is a co-op enthusiast, and under his leadership, Moonflower Co-op increased member ownership by 25 percent and the People’s Co-op saw a turnaround in sales and income. Read More

My favorite of the houses we lived in growing up was an old farmhouse in Eola, ILL., with a rhubarb patch.

Although we kids clamored for sugar when we first started gnawing on the raw stalks, we soon became accustomed to the sour stringiness and enjoyed it straight, in between the strawberry rhubarb pies my mom made all through the season.

A Cowboy Dinner and Dance is Saturday at the Posse Lodge after the Los Alamos County Rodeo. 
 
Dinner starts at 5 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. with the dance. The Rifters are playing for the dance.
