The upcoming Seeking Truth in Science and Faith talk and discussion will focuse on “How Christianity Laid the Foundations for the Scientific Revolution: Why Modern Science Emerged in Europe and Nowhere Else.”

New Mexico Airlines Free Flight Winners Announced

Five lucky individuals were winners in July’s free flight giveaway contest for round trip flights on New Mexico Airlines, the company under contract to the County that provides commercial airline service between Los Alamos Airport and Albuquerque’s Sunport.

Winners:

  • Mary Barrus;
  • Steve Ciddio;
  • Opal Lee Gill; and
  • Clifford Hewitt.

Double Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients:

1 cup flour (*high altitude)
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water
2 cups (12oz) chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 cup walnuts
 

Directions:

You can get the high altitude flour at Walmart. It is higher in protein, and a finer grind. This was the first time I tried it, and I think it did well. I want to keep trying it in baked goods to see if it out performs bread flour.

Rahim AlHaj, composer and two-time Grammy nominee, celebrates the release of “Journey,” his new retrospective CD, with a special concert at The Outpost performance space in Albuquerque Aug. 23.

AlHaj is a virtuoso on the oud, a pear-shaped stringed instrument commonly used in Middle-Eastern music. Construction of the oud is similar to that of the lute. It is considered an ancestor of the guitar.
