The Craig Martin Experience … Tight, Tight, Tight!

The Craig Martin Experience first surfaced on the Los Alamos music scene some 18 months ago and has developed into the tightest jazz band around. The group’s soulfully jazzed up rendition of ‘Summertime’ was a particular favorite of the Saturday night crowd that filled the Blue Window Bistro, 813 Central Ave. This is the fourth time The Craig Martin Experience has played the Blue Window Bistro, which offers a full dinner and drink menu during the concerts. Ask The Life Coach: En Route to Happiness

Ask The Life Coach: En Route to Happiness
By YELENA GURVITS

I never had an original thought in my life. That is why I always turn to established authorities like Tolstoy, Woody Allen and Tony Robins.

What? You think it’s an odd list? It contains a classic writer, famous cinematographer and bigger than life, Life Coach. So what? I learned a thing or two from them. Mainly, that our existence is all about happiness — happiness and completion. Really!

What would you not be willing to try to get there? You will take an unconventional route, you will not bend to circumstances, and you will push harder and harder Read More

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27 at Ruby K’s Bagel Café, Ishwari Sollohub, a licensed mental health counselor with offices in Santa Fe and Los Alamos, will lead a discussion on how to improve relationships through healthy boundaries.

What does it mean to have “healthy boundaries?” Many people neglect to maintain their personal boundaries because they don’t understand what it means.

Sollohub explained boundaries using an example from her own relationship. “I wanted to do some relationship work using a book,” she said. “I asked if he wanted to do it with me and Read More

Solo Traveler: Planning a Really Big Trip … Alone

Solo Traveler: Planning a Really Big Trip … Alone
Column by SHERRY HARDAGE

Surely every person with a few decades under the belt has a list of things they still want to do before kicking the bucket.

As I’ve gotten older the list has grown. Every time I check off an item I find more places or things to add to it.

Many years ago, I went to San Francisco with a friend. We had such a good time and saw so little of that wonderful city that I vowed one day I would return and live there for a year. At that time, I hadn’t traveled much outside the U.S. and thought I would love to live for a year in different American cities. Read More

How the Hen House Turns: Peace and Quiet Comes to the Hen House

How the Hen House Turns:
Peace and Quiet Comes to the Hen House—Another Cautionary Tale
Column by Carolyn A. (Cary) Neeper, Ph. D.

What a beautiful morning it was—after the two-inch rain Friday—the first rain in how many months? There were blue skies, no wind, and quiet in the Hen House pen!

The noise has been driving husband Don wild. (He’s trying to write a serious blog. (There are such things.)) I couldn’t hear the noise because my office is on the other side of the house.

What noise? It was the noise of one male duck, Mr. Campbell. at the divider fence in the Hen House pen, in the face of two female geese
