LAMTA/UNM-LA Spring Piano Recital Sunday

In keeping with their ongoing mission of Community Outreach and Service, the UNM-LA Campus will host the first of two Spring Piano Recitals at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25.

The recital is FREE and open to the public, sponsored by the Los Alamos Music Teachers Association (LAMTA). LAMTA’s Sunday Musicales are regular public presentations for the public’s enjoyment and appreciation of the city’s musically talented youth.

A rare opportunity to hear Alexander Paley, the phenomenal Moldovan-American pianist, who will make his first appearance in Santa Fe at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 11 at the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe.

Paley defected from Russia to the United States in 1988 and later moved to Paris.

Canceled: Lady Luck Runs Out On ‘Guys And Dolls’

The remodeling of the Duane Smith Auditorium will not be complete in time for the opening of Los Alamos Light Opera’s production of “Guys and Dolls” scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23.

“In keeping with the gambling theme of ‘Guys and Dolls’, LA Light Opera continued to create sets, costume the cast, and rehearse the orchestra, hoping the auditorium would be open in time, as the “beep-beep” of construction hoists continued in the background … but luck ran out on the guys and the dolls,” said Laurie Tomlinson, LALO president and “Guys and Dolls” director.
