Singer-songwriter Jim Scott brings his “Pete Seeger Songfest” to the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos at 7 p.m. Friday, July 15 at 1738 N. Sage St. Admission is $15 at the door.

Scott’s concert in Los Alamos will focus on the music of the late folk legend, Pete Seeger. Scott collaborated on many projects with Seeger, and leads a celebration of Seeger’s and his own songs of earth, justice and peace. The Los Alamos Hilltopper Marching Band is set to perform at noon, July 4, in the National Independence Day Parade on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C.

The Hilltopper Marching Band, which left for the nation’s capital Friday, was selected by Gov. Susana Martinez to represent the State of New Mexico in the National Independence Day Parade. More than 50 student-performers in the Hilltopper Marching Band are making the trip to Washington, D.C.

Actor Devon McCleskey of Los Alamos High School has won a 2016 Jimmy Award.

The eighth annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards were held Monday at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway in New York. McCleskey won for ‘Best Performance in the Ensemble’. 

McCleskey competed at the Jimmys following his win as Best Actor at the Popejoy Awards in May in Albuquerque.

Go local tonight with DK & the Affordables and Eddy & the Nomads at 7 p.m. tonight at Ashley Pond. It’s the next Los Alamos Summer Concert, sponsored by KBAC FM/Hutton Broadcasting/www.santafe.com.

DK Warner and the Affordables play roots rock and rockabilly. Eddy Partridge and the Nomads play roots rock and classic rock from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
