Mozart At Bandelier’s ‘Opera On The Rocks’ Sept. 26

The classical music of Mozart will be performed at Bandelier National Monument’s Juniper Campground outdoor amphitheater during the park’s fourth annual “Opera on the Rocks,” Sept. 26.

The family friendly event is an opportunity for those not familiar with opera, as well as opera enthusiasts, to enjoy listening in a special venue.

What do the words “Abracadabra”, “Vesuvius”, “Shenandoah” and “Nitro” conjure in your mind? Music may not be the first thing that you think of. These textured titles are works of world-renowned composer Frank Ticheli.
 
This spring, the Los Alamos Community Winds will be offering middle and high school students in North Central New Mexico the opportunity to work with Mr. Ticheli. Students from all over the region are invited to participate in the first ever Los Alamos Community Winds Band Festival and Honor Bands.

The Red Elvises return to Ashley Pond at 7 p.m. today for a free concert.

Opening the show around 6:30 p.m. will be the fabulous Los Alamos marching band, the Hillstompers. The Hillstompers will also play when the Red Elvises take a break. The Red Elvises is Los Alamos’ favorite band. You disagree? ACCT Auditions For Disney Lion King Jr. Aug. 26

ACCT News:

Atomic City Children’s Theater (ACCT), the Los Alamos Public Schools’ award winning after-school theater program, is excited to announce auditions for its elementary school production of Disney Lion King Jr., a two-act musical play based on Disney’s family favorite feature film, The Lion King and Julie Taymor’s hit Broadway musical.

Auditions are in the Mountain Elementary School Gymnasium 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. Registration begins at 1 p.m. The auditions are open to all 5th or 6th grade students in the Los Alamos area.

LACDC Extends Tuesdays At The Pond Aug. 18

The final Tuesdays at the Pond was scheduled for Aug. 11, featuring Marcos Cavalcante and Band at Ashley Pond Park.
 
However, just announced, Tuesdays at the Pond has extended the successful concert series schedule by one week to include The Silver Lines at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18.
 
The Silver Lines are an alternative rock band from Socorro featuring Los Alamos resident and guitarist Matt Broomfield, drummer Nick Davis and bassist Greg Holmes. The three met in school at Socorro and are delighted to be playing in Los Alamos
