Vasculitis Advocate Hosts Free Concert Saturday

Allison Boyt, a professional violinist and member of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, is hosting a concert Saturday, Jan. 3, at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church’s Kelly Hall, featuring local Los Alamos musicians. The hour-long program begins at 7 p.m., is open to the public and includes light refreshments. The event is free of charge with donations accepted.

So what can you do in Los Alamos once Christmas is over? Why not bring a friend to a Big Band dance?

Monday, Dec. 29, is the annual Big Band after Christmas Dance in Los Alamos. The dance is open to the public and will be 7:30-10:30 p.m., at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall, 3700 Canyon Road. Proceeds from the dance will be used to help the IHM youth group.

Nothing says Christmas quite like the sound of a choir performing carols. This choir happens to be composed of tubas and euphoniums. The concert will be at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at Fuller Lodge. There is no admission charge. The Los Alamos Arts Council is sponsoring the event.

The group came together in 2002, and has played at various venues throughout Los Alamos every holiday season since then. Read More

Artistic Director of Performance Santa Fe and Music Director of the Fort Worth Opera Joe Illick is presenting a talk on Commissioning New Opera: Finding the Mozarts, Verdis and Puccinis of the 21ST Century.

The community is invited to attend Illick’s talk, which is at a luncheon at noon Thursday, Jan. 15 at Hotel Santa Fe, 1501 Paseo de Peralta in Santa Fe.
