Community Winds Prism Concert Most Diverse Ever This Saturday

The Los Alamos Community Winds will present the fourth annual Prism Concert for the holidays at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Crossroads Bible Church in Los Alamos. As with all Winds performances, the concert is free ( $10 donation suggested).

Prism Concerts feature numerous guest performers and are performed “in the round,” with musicians encircling the audience and playing continuously from one piece to the next without breaks.

The Sangre de Cristo Chorale (CDCC) is honoring the 25 year legacy of Sheldon Kalberg, the first and longest director of the Chorale, by dedicating to him its winter 2014 concert, titled “Darkness Brings Light”.

Brave New Brass Brown Bag Recital Wednesday

Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) presents The Brave New Brass free recital noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Fuller Lodge.

Community members are invited to bring their lunch and hear this brass quintet perform works from Gustov Holst, Diego Ortiz and Astor Piazoll. The Brave New Brass is comprised of Elizabeth Hunke, Deniece Korzekwa, Dave Korzekwa, Mandy Marksteiner and Bruce Warren.

Mountain Elementary Presents ‘Pop Star For The Day’ Awards

Mountain Elementary School first grade student, Savanna Strother, second from left, was a winner of ‘Pop Star for the Day’ Nov. 14. Her prize included leading the pledge in the morning and the announcements as well as performing a song during lunch. Strother decided to share her singing experience with a few of her friends and they sang ‘Let It Go’ from the movie ‘Frozen.’ After her performance, Strother was escorted to her pop star throne.
