Battle of the Bands July 4 at Overlook Park

This week the Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series  will be at the Thursday, July 4th Kiwanis Fireworks Spectacular event at Overlook Park in White Rock.

Music for the July 4th festivities includes a Battle of the Bands.

3 p.m. Boo Koo – a Los Alamos roots-reggae-Americana and rock band, Scott Beguin-drums and percussion, Peter Young-guitar/vocals, Greg Mechels-bass.

(3-5 p.m. next to the bandstand – join the crowd for the “Thrill of the Grill” Chicken Challenge Cook-off between Police and Firefighters!)

The 57th season for the Santa Fe Opera opened Friday, June 28 and two apprentices performed Sunday afternoon to a full house at Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos.

Bass Rocky Sellers and Mezzo-Soprano Kate Tombaugh were accompanied by Kirt Pavitt on piano.

Tombaugh recently made her solo debut at New York City’s Carnegie Hall upon winning the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition.

Los Alamos Salutes Americans with Free 4th of July Fireworks Show & Events

In honor of Independence Day, Los Alamos is offering many free events on July 4 to celebrate our freedoms including a fireworks show, Fun Run and naturalization ceremony to welcome our newest Americans.

Families will have the liberty on whether or not to walk or run at the “Firecracker 5K Family Fun Run” on July 4. The walk/run benefits the YMCA, with entry fees for adults at $25; $10 for youth and $15 for YMCA members.
