Right Lane Turn Closure Thursday At N.M. 4/East Jemez

COUNTY News:

The free right-hand turn lane from East Jemez Road to N.M. 4 will be CLOSED Thursday, Jan. 18 so that crews can directionally bore a space for conduit to be installed at the median in the southeast corner of N.M. 4. It is anticipated this closure will only be needed for one day.

Eastbound traffic on East Jemez Road will be able to turn right to access southbound N.M. 4 at the traffic signal at the intersection of East Jemez Road and N.M. 4.

Traffic headed in this direction Jan. 18, 2024 should expect delays.

LANL Foundation Opens Applications For Community Outreach Grants

LANL Foundation News:

ESPAÑOLA – Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation is now accepting applications for its  Community Outreach Grants.

These grants support schools, school districts, non-profits, Pueblos, Nations, and Tribal communities in the seven-county area of Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel, Santa Fe and Taos counties.

Interested applicants should apply for the $5,000 grant before the deadline of Feb. 15. The Foundation will be awarding 16 Community Outreach Grants for a total of $80,000.

LANL: AI Breakthrough Creates Images From Nothing

A new, potentially revolutionary artificial intelligence framework called ‘Blackout Diffusion’ generates images from a completely empty picture, meaning that the machine-learning algorithm, unlike other generative diffusion models, does not require initiating a ‘random seed’ to get started. Blackout Diffusion, presented at the recent International Conference on Machine Learning, generates samples that are comparable to the current diffusion models such as DALL-E or Midjourney, but require fewer computational resources than these models. Adjustments Made To LANL Transmission Line Public Meeting … Weather Could Impact In-Person Accessibility

The National Nuclear Security Administration has made adjustments to the Thursday, Jan. 11, public meeting for the Los Alamos National Laboratory Electrical Power Capacity Upgrade Project Draft Environmental Assessment to accommodate crowd-size and a potential snowstorm.

Field Work Completed For Key Cleanup Project At LANL
