Los Alamos Police To Change Fingerprint Service Vendor, Expect Temporary Gap In Services

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Los Alamos Police (LAPD) was notified by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety (NMDPS) that they are changing vendors for fingerprint background check support in May.

For Los Alamos, this means that there will be a gap in services after next week until the LAPD can secure a new vendor.

The final day Los Alamos citizens and visitors can complete background fingerprint checks will be Friday, April 28.

Today, Chief Dino Sgambellone released crime statistics through the first quarter of 2023, which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD).

In April of 2021, LAPD transitioned from UCR, a Summary Reporting System (SRS), to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). NIBRS was created in the 1980’s to offer more detailed crime reporting. FBI: Taos Man Gets 9 Years For Kidnapping, Assault Of Intimate Partner By Strangling And Suffocating

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced today that Richard Mascarenas was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

Mascarenas, 38, of Taos Pueblo, and an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Taos, pleaded guilty Jan. 13 to one count each of kidnapping, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and assault of an intimate partner by strangling and suffocating. Upon his release from prison, Mascarenas will be subject to 5 years of supervised release.

Council Tentatively Oks LAPD’s $14 Million FY24 Budget

Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone presents LAPD’s proposed budget for FY2024 to County Council during Tuesday night’s budget hearing. FBI: Woman Pleads Guilty After DUI Leads To Child’s Death

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Evelyn Bustamante has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Bustamante, 59, of Sanostee, N.M., and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, will remain on conditions of release pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

The Los Alamos Police Department will sponsor the next Los Alamos Middle School Hawk Hangout.

This will be a fun event for police officers to engage with local 7th & 8th grade youth,” Deputy Chief Oliver Morris said. “We hope to encourage our Los Alamos parents to let their middle school students attend this event at SALA 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27.
