LAS CRUCES — The New Mexico State Police and the Las Cruces Police Department have completed an eight-week operation to tackle high-crime areas in Las Cruces.

The goal of this collaborative effort, which began Feb. 1, 2023, was to maintain a law enforcement presence in high-crime areas, enforce criminal and traffic laws, identify individuals involved in illegal activity, locate wanted subjects, reduce auto thefts, and build positive relationships within the community.

FBI: Zuni Man Pleads Guilty To Firearm Offenses

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Nicholas Pinto has pled guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence in Indian Country.

Pinto, 24, of Zuni, New Mexico, and an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Zuni, will remain in custody pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

TAOS – The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Samantha Sanchez, 40, who is 5 feet 1 inches tall, 148 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.

Sanchez was last seen wearing grey sweatpants and a blue jacket and known to carry a pink purse.

She was last seen Feb. 22, 2023, in Taos. Her direction of travel is unknown; however she often travels to Albuquerque.

FBI: Woman Sentence To 37 Months For Fatal Crash

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced Wednesday that Betrina Harry Grey was sentenced to 37 months in prison.

Grey, 31, of Pinedale, New Mexico, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, pleaded guilty Oct. 11, 2022, to one count each of involuntary manslaughter and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Upon her release from prison, Grey will be subject to 3 years of supervised release.

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico announced Wednesday that Christopher Adam Jensen-Tanner is set to plead guilty to wire fraud and engaging in monetary transaction in property derived from specified unlawful activity at 2:30 p.m., April 26, 2023.

Christopher Adam Jensen-Tanner, 44, of Roswell, is not in custody.

Jensen-Tanner used his position and access as owner and president of Roswell Escrow Services, Inc. (RES) to fraudulently redirect customer funds for his personal benefit.

New Mexico State Police Participate In MCSAP Operation

During the week of March 27-31, 2023, the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) conducted a variety of inspections to keep the roads of New Mexico safe.

The goal of MCSAP is to reduce commercial motor vehicles (CMV) involved crashes, fatalities, and injuries through consistent, uniform and effective CMV safety programs.

The Eunice Weight Pad, Hobbs Port of Entry, Loving Weight Pad, and the Carlsbad Port of Entry were all locations where this operation took place.
