Citizen Reports Vandalism At La Cieneguilla Petroglyph Area … SFCSO Detains Adult Male Suspect

BLM News:

SANTA FE — At approximately 2:19 p.m., Oct. 19, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office (Sheriff’s Office) received a report that an adult male was using spray paint to vandalize a petroglyph panel within the La Cieneguilla Petroglyph Area.

Sheriff’s Office deputies were on the scene by 2:34 p.m. and detained the suspect for questioning.

The cultural and recreation area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Taos Field Office, is home to the La Cieneguilla Petroglyphs, some of which may be up to 8,000 years old. The area is known as the ancestral homeland of the Pueblo people, and Read More

LAPS Reminds Families Of Stranger Danger After Man Approaches Child Near Chamisa Elementary School

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools has been notified by the Los Alamos Police Department of a recent incident where a child was approached by a stranger and asked to enter the car. The incident did not occur on school property.

An unknown male approached a child in the area of Chamisa Elementary School and told the child, “Hey kid, your mom is sick. Get in the car with me.” The child told the male suspect “no” and kept walking. There were also three other individuals in the vehicle at this time. No other attempts were made to abduct the child.

LAPD To Conduct DEA Drug Take Back Day Oct. 29

National Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, Oct. 29, and the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will be conducting its biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day.

This event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the North parking lot (off Central Avenue) of LAPD.

The following items will not be accepted: Needles/sharps, any liquids or creams, and aerosol/ compressed medications.

For this event, LAPD will have supplies available for people to be able to dispose of their liquids, creams and aerosols onsite. LAPD also will have a sharps container available for anyone to drop off their injectable medications. Read More

FBI Releases Updated List Of 192 Missing Indigenous Persons In New Mexico And The Navajo Nation

The Albuquerque FBI Division released an updated list Friday of missing Indigenous persons in New Mexico and the Navajo Nation. 

The list, current as of Oct. 11, has 192 names on it and reflects the addition of 27 names and the removal of 18 since the previous list was released in September.

TAOS — At the request of the Taos Police Department, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was called Wednesday, Oct. 5, to investigate an apparent homicide at 307 La Luz Dr. in Taos. 

State Police Investigations Bureau agents learned that at around 5 a.m. Oct. 5, a 19-year-old male with apparent gunshot injuries knocked on the door of a neighboring house and told the residents that he and his mother had just been shot. The neighbor called 911.

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, announced that a federal jury Sept. 28 returned a guilty verdict on Michael Bauldwin.

The jury convicted Bauldwin, 43, of Albuquerque, on two counts of production of child pornography.
