UPDATE: LOS ALAMOS COUNTY NM 4 Road closure has ended. Please drive safely.

Due to a motor vehicle accident on N.M. 4, the Los Alamos Police Department has closed the road between East Jemez Road (Truck Route) and Rover Boulevard.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

The closure is anticipated to last two hours. A follow-up message will be published when the road has been re-opened.

ALBUQUERQUE — A Crownpoint man was sentence to 42 months in prison for strangling a woman and attacking a tribal police officer with a taser.

There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court documents, March 18, 2025, Jason K. Thompson, 40, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, attempted to strangle Jane Doe. Law enforcement responded to the domestic violence call and attempted to take Thompson into custody.

ALBUQUERQUE — An Arizona woman was sentenced to one year in prison for a 2023 drunk driving crash that seriously injured two people.

According to court documents Dec. 30, 2023, Shaina Shorty, 36, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, drove while intoxicated and crashed into a vehicle occupied by Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2. As a result of the crash, both Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 sustained serious bodily injuries.

ALBUQUERQUE — A Bloomfield man has been charged with second degree murder after allegedly fatally stabbing a man during an argument.

According to court documents, on May 20, 2026, Seviano Kee, 18, and enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, stabbed John Doe with a kitchen knife during an argument, killing him.
