Schmitt Receives Suspended Sentence

COURT News:

 

Robert F. Schmitt, 41, received a 90-day suspended sentence Oct. 23 from Judge Alan Kirk in Los Alamos Municipal Court and was placed on three months of supervised probation on a charge of criminal damage to property of less than $1,000.

Schmitt was arrested Sept. 18 at Smith’s in White Rock for slashing a tire on a truck belonging to another Smith’s employee. Los Alamos Police Department had been called to the store in response to a domestic dispute involving Schmitt. They were called back a little later in response to the report of the slashed tire.

Ruybal Faces Probation Violation Hearing

Casandra Ruybal, 28, of Los Alamos will be back in First Judicial District Court Nov. 20 for a probation violation hearing. If found guilty of the violation, probation officials have asked that she be remanded into custody to serve the remainder of her sentence in the Department of Corrections.

Andrea Rivera, 30, will remain in the Los Alamos Detention Center until a Nov. 14 hearing to determine whether she will be held without bond pending trial. Judge Detains Espinoza Due To Safety Concerns

Los Alamos Magistrate Judge Pat Casados opted Monday in court to keep Victoria Espinoza in jail on a cash only secured bond for $3,000 unless she can be admitted to an inpatient drug treatment facility.

Update On Crash On Truck Route Near LANSCE

CRASH Update:

Three people involved in the two-vehicle crash around dusk Monday on the Truck Route near the LANSCE turn off were transported to Los Alamos Medical Center with various not life threatening injuries, according to police.

One driver was cited for failure to yield. For a period of time following the crash, travel was down to one lane in each direction. Commuters were asked to avoid the truck route that evening and to prepare for delays. Read More

A 1994 Ford Taurus Wagon, bikes, tools, a guitar and jewelry are among the items to be auctioned 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21 by the Los Alamos Police Department.
