Andrea R. Rivera, 30, of Los Alamos remains in jail after her arraignment Sept. 7 by Los Alamos Municipal Judge Alan Kirk. According to court staff, she was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and no date has been set for her next court appearance because Judge Kirk needs more information before he will review her case.

Two Cars Crash Near Los Alamos High School

The drivers of two vehicles that crashed during this evening’s commute at the intersection of Diamond Drive and Sandia were transported with minor injuries to Los Alamos Medical Center. Police at the scene indicated that the red car turned left from Sandia onto Diamond Drive and collided with the blue BMW. Justin F. Vigil, 23, of Santa Fe, will serve 191 days in Santa Fe County Detention Center and 566 days of supervised probation when released under the terms of a judgment issued by First Judicial District Judge T. Two men involved in an Aug. 25 incident in which one of them attempted to run down a Los Alamos Police officer with a stolen pickup were back in Los Alamos Magistrate Court Friday morning facing revised charges.

Larceny Charge Against Tonya Males Dismissed

A larceny charge filed July 24 against Tonya Males of Espanola has been dismissed without prejudice by Deputy First Judicial District Attorney Kent Wahlquist in Los Alamos Magistrate Court.

Males was charged with the theft of $900 in cash from a White Rock home she was cleaning.

The homeowner claimed the money had been in an envelope in a bedroom dresser and that Males was the only person who had access to the bedroom besides herself.

Criminal Charge Dropped Against Lab Employee

The charge against a Los Alamos National Laboratory employee of criminal damage of more than $1,800 to a vehicle belonging to another Lab employee has been dismissed.

First Judicial District Deputy District Attorney Kent Walhquist filed the dismissal Thursday in Los Alamos Magistrate Court for the charge against Robert Winkel stating that restitution has been made in the case and the interests of justice are best served through dismissal of the charge.

The New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence (NMPGV) and Los Alamos Police Department will be holding their first, and hopefully last, “ever” Guns To Gardens Gun Buyback event on Saturday, Oct. 28.

First of all, they can’t “Buy Back” something they never sold in the first place! So, this onerous title is already misleading.
