STATEWIDE — State Police are conducting Sobriety Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols and Registration, Insurance and Drivers’ License Checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during March.
We are bringing awareness to this, in an effort to reduce alcohol related fatalities, through continued media attention and intensive advertising. These checkpoints are helping to change society’s attitude about drinking and driving.
People are choosing to not drink and drive. This is the biggest step in keeping impaired drivers from crashing into our friends

Espanola City Police have rescued 15-year-old Angelica Valdez and arrested her 21-year-old abductor Christian Orozoco.
The Taos County Sheriff’s Office reports that Saturday evening Orozco forced his way into a Penasco area home, held the girl’s grandparents at gunpoint and threatened to kill them. Deputies say Orozco then abducted Valdez and took off in a brown-colored car.

First Judicial District Court Judge Mary L. Marlowe Sommer accepted a plea agreement Feb. 17 for Christopher Davis of White Rock on charges of sexual offenses against minors.
Davis, 25, was arrested Jan. 26 by Los Alamos police on an outstanding warrant from the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General involving charges of alleged sexual offenses against children in two states.
The plea agreement lists charges against Davis as follows:
