ALBUQUERQUE  Lorenzo Chavez, 25, and co-defendant James Montano, Jr., 23, both of Albuquerque, entered guilty pleas Feb. 23 in federal court to violating the Hobbs Act by robbing the Route 66 Casino Xpress Dec. 13, 2015 in Laguna Pueblo.
 
Chavez additionally entered a guilty plea to drug trafficking, Hobbs Act and firearms charges in a separate case.

Espanola City Police have rescued 15-year-old Angelica Valdez and arrested her 21-year-old abductor Christian Orozoco.

The Taos County Sheriff’s Office reports that Saturday evening Orozco forced his way into a Penasco area home, held the girl’s grandparents at gunpoint and threatened to kill them. Deputies say Orozco then abducted Valdez and took off in a brown-colored car.

A man suspected of being the abductor is Christian Orozoco. He is described as a 21-year-old hispanic, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds, brown eyes, black hair, wearing blue jeans and a dark colored hooded jacket.

First Judicial District Court Judge Mary L. Marlowe Sommer accepted a plea agreement Feb. 17 for Christopher Davis of White Rock on charges of sexual offenses against minors.

Davis, 25, was arrested Jan. 26 by Los Alamos police on an outstanding warrant from the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General involving charges of alleged sexual offenses against children in two states.

The plea agreement lists charges against Davis as follows:

Former Supervisor At Laguna Pueblo Superette Pleads Guilty To Federal Embezzlement Charge

ALBUQUERQUE  The former supervisor at the Laguna Pueblo Superette, pled guilty Feb. 7 in federal court in Albuquerque to embezzling funds from the Pueblo of Laguna.
 
Marshall J. Cheromiah, 32, of Mesita was charged in an indictment filed Nov. 5, 2015, with embezzling approximately $48,953.47 from the Pueblo of Laguna. According to the indictment, Cheromiah was working as an employee or agent of an Indian Tribal Organization when he committed the crime between July 2013 and Oct. 2014, in Cibola County.

Carlsbad Bank Robbers Still Sought Three Years Later

The FBI and Carlsbad Police Department are still looking for an unidentified man and woman who robbed a Carlsbad bank three years ago.
 
Feb. 7, 2014, at approximately 2:40 p.m., two suspects robbed the Western Commerce Bank at 3310 National Parks Highway in Carlsbad.
 
The FBI is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these suspects.
 
Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call the FBI at 505.889.1300.
