Police Issue Statewide Arrest Warrant On Second Bealls Shoplifting Suspect Stephanie Garcia

LAPD News:

Los Alamos police report that they have identified the second suspect involved in the March 9 shoplifting incident at Bealls and the hit and run case involving a silver Volvo that left a local man with minor injuries. A search warrant was obtained and executed on that Volvo, according to police. 

The name of the second shoplifting suspect is Stephanie Garcia, 31, of Espanola, (no relation to arrested suspect Ashley Garcia) and LAPD Det. Joseph Robinson has obtained a statewide arrest warrant against her for the following charges;

  • Shoplifting (4th Degree Felony)

Los Alamos police have taken shoplifting suspect Ashley Alexanda Garcia of Hernandez into custody. An LAPD spokesperson told the Los Alamos Daily Post this evening that a tip led to the arrest of Hernandez by the Rio Arriba Sheriffs Department.

Garcia, 23, was transferred to the Los Alamos Detention Facility. A statewide warrant has been issued for 23-year-old Ashley Alexanda Garcia of Hernandez, on charges of shoplifting, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and duty to give information and render aid, in connection with an incident Thursday, March 9 at Bealls Department Store at 610 Trinity Dr.

LAPD Sgt. Daniel Roberts and Cpl. Ben Henrichs responded to Bealls after two women reportedly fled the area in a silver four-door Volvo after striking a pedestrian with their vehicle to leave the area.

The Los Alamos Police Department has received multiple reports of a person calling Los Alamos citizens today claiming to be a law enforcement officer.
 
The person is lying to resident’s stating they owe court fees. The suspect also is using names of local judges and law enforcement personnel to try and persuade potential victims.
 
The Los Alamos Police Department asks residents to hang up on these types of phone calls as this method is a verified scam and Los AlamoslLaw enforcement offcials would never call citizens and demand money.
