Police Arrest Pigeon Carrying Threatening Note

The Indian police said they have taken a pigeon into custody after the bird was found carrying a threatening note against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The pigeon was detained near India’s heavily militarized border with Pakistan. The Financial Times reports that India’s Border Security Force (BSF) officers found the bird at Pathankot in the northern state of Punjab. Punjab has suffered many terrorist attacks from Pakistan-based Islamist militants.

Fatality Today In Bandelier National Monument

BANDELIER News:

A female park visitor died today, Monday, Oct. 3, in Bandelier National Monument after being struck by a falling tree. Park rangers were notified at approximately 2:30 p.m. of the incident.

Park rangers, the Los Alamos County Fire Department and the Los Alamos County Police Department responded to the incident.

The medical examiner and law enforcement have not completed the investigation at the time of this news release and no further details are presently available. Read More

West Road Traffic Alert For Monday!

COUNTY News:

Monday, Oct. 3, 3-5 a.m., traffic control operations will be conducted by Los Alamos Police Department officers on the section of West Road between Diamond Drive and N.M. 4 by the Los Alamos County Ice Rink to assist large film vehicles in negotiating the tight turns through Los Alamos Canyon on route to Camp May Road.

Traffic control operations will resume later that evening between 6-9 p.m. to facilitate the same film trucks as they exit the County using West Road to access Diamond and Trinity Drive.

Commuters between Los Alamos and the Jemez are advised to use the Vehicle Access Portals

FBI: Santa Fe Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Armed Bank Robbery Conviction

ALBUQUERQUE  Jacob P. Wheeler, 25, of Santa Fe has been sentenced in federal court in Albuquerque to 46 months in prison for his armed bank robbery conviction. Wheeler will be on supervised release for three years after completing his prison sentence.
 
Wheeler was arrested May 26, 2015, on a criminal complaint charging him with robbing the Century Bank branch at 498 N. Guadalupe St. in Santa Fe May 15, 2015. Wheeler robbed the bank by pointing a gun at the bank teller, demanding money, and climbing up onto the teller’s counter to grab money from a cash drawer. Wheeler
