Dec. 2 at 2:55 p.m. / A 55-year-old Los Alamos man reported that someone damaged his property on Diamond Drive. The estimated loss is less than $1,000.

Dec. 2 at 3:45 p.m. / A 54-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that someone burglarized her home on Sereno. The estimated loss is unknown.

Appeal Committee Hears Redmond Case Dec. 7

A County Personnel Board Appeal Committee hearing on the termination of former Los Alamos Police Sgt. Jordan Redmond is set for 9 a.m. Monday in the Boards and Commissions Room #110 of the Municipal Building.

Redmond, 32, was arrested Oct. 8 and charged under the Governmental Conduct Act, section 10.16.4.1, Honoraria prohibited, for accepting money for conducting a public duty as a police officer. LAPD Appoints Domestic Violence Advocate

In an effort to help address a serious issue within the local community, the Los Alamos Police Department has obtained a grant and contracted with a part-time victim advocate to assist crime victims.

In this role, the advocate (name withheld due to sensitive nature of work) is helping victims find refuge and pursue legal action against their abusers. The advocate also is providing emotional support and assistance in finding resources and completing necessary paperwork.

Nov. 25 at 2:55 p.m. / Police arrested Nathan Mann, 51, of Los Alamos on Sherwood Boulevard and charged him with shoplifting and issued him a summons to appear in court. The estimated loss is less than $500.

We believe Ofc. Jordan Redmond is an honorable man. One of the many ways he has shown his dedication to the community has been through five and half years of service with the Los Alamos Police Department.

Ofc. Jordan, as he was called during his service at the high school, has been terminated from the LAPD. In addition, he has been charged with a misdemeanor regarding the alleged infraction. As Jordan Redmond is an honorable man, he would not have maliciously violated policy or law, so there must be some kind of misunderstanding about legitimate work and pay.  Read More
