Local Officer Arrested Following Internal Investigation

Los Alamos Police arrested Sgt. Jordan Redmond Oct. 8, at 2500 Trinity Dr., and charged him with engaging in an act for personal financial gain.
 
The arrest came following an internal investigation that began this past summer and concluded in September. According to the police report, Redmond was paid $300 Aug. 29, 2014 by UNM-LA for conducting two tours of the Justice Center. UNM-LA works in conjunction with Los Alamos High School and provides a Career Exploration Program, also known as the Early College High School

Oct. 8 at 2:02 p.m. / Police arrested Jordon Redmond, 32, of Los Alamos at 2500 Trinity Dr., and charged him with engaging in an act for personal financial gain and issued him a summons to appear in court. Police booking photo is not available.

Oct. 14 at 2:38 p.m. / A 29-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that she was battered by a household member.

Former Springer Police Chief Leon Herrera Pleads Guilty To Impersonating Federal Officer

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE—(Former Springer police chief) Leon Herrera, 37, of Las Vegas, N.M., pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in Albuquerque, N.M., to falsely impersonating a federal officer.

Herrera entered his guilty plea to a felony information charging him with impersonating a Special Agent of the DEA Dec. 15, 2014, in Colfax County. In his plea agreement, Herrera admitted that he committed the crime at the behest of a friend who was then employed as a deputy sheriff in Colfax County (friend).

Elks Launch Random Acts Of Kindness Crusade; Sponsor LAPD/YACs Ice Cream Social Today

ELKS News:

The Los Alamos Elks Lodge is on a Random Acts of Kindness crusade for the Youth Activity Centers (YAC) in Los Alamos and White Rock.

Elks members met with YAC Director Paul Martinez and he mentioned that the kids could benefit from regular interaction with the local police force to impact the kids in a positive way.

The Los Alamos Elks Lodge is facilitating this engagement by scheduling ice cream socials between LAPD and the two YACs. The Elks will purchase ingredients and serve so the officers can enjoy the ice cream and interact with the kids in a casual and reassuring setting.
