State Police Launch Checkpoints And Saturation Patrols

SANTA FE — New Mexico State Police (NMSP) will conduct Sobriety Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols and Registration, Insurance and Drivers’ License Checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of February.

These efforts continue to show a significant reduction in alcohol related fatalities, NMSP said. This is attributed to the continued media attention and intensive advertising.

Police Urge Motorists To Proceed With Caution

LAPD News:

Traffic accidents are occurring in and around Los Alamos County as road conditions are dangerous due to snow and ice from the storm.

“I urge motorists to stay off the roads or proceed with extreme caution if they must drive,” Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone said.

Commander Oliver Morris told the Los Alamos Daily Post that so far there have been three reported crashes including a rollover on the Main Hill Road. LAPD’s Operation Genesis Nets Additional Arrests

LAPD News:

Los Alamos police detectives have arrested two additional suspects on warrants associated with Operation Genesis.

Elizabeth Yates and Trevon Yates were arrested Saturday evening. Officers and investigators also recovered marijuana and a substance suspected of being heroin while affecting the two arrests. Los Alamos Police Commander Preston Ballew said this morning that the substance believed to be heroin has been sent to the state lab for testing.

Ballew added that “more arrests are imminent.”

News Alert: Vehicle Rolls Over On Truck Route

LAPD News:

A single vehicle rolled over on the truck route at about 7 a.m. today and the male driver was transported with minor injuries to Los Alamos Medical Center.

Los Alamos Police Cmdr. Preston Ballew explained that the driver was heading west on the truck route when he hit black ice and flipped over.

“It’s still winter and there is ice on the roads … we are urging motorists to slow down,” Ballew said.

The truck route is open but Ballew said motorists should proceed with caution because police are wrapping up details at the scene. Read More
