Los Alamos Police Arrest Couple with Bundles of ID Cards, Drugs and Cell Phones

In responding to a report, Los Alamos Police located two people in a room at Motel 6, 2201 Trinity Dr., about 6 p.m. Thursday, surrounded by bundles of ID cards, bags of methamphetamines, marijuana, pipes, pills and several cell phones.

Police arrested Leona Bjarke, 23, of Los Alamos and Connor Fox, 25, of Colorado Springs, Colo., at the scene and charged them with trafficking a controlled substance, distributing/selling, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and concealing identity.

Bjarke also had an active warrant for a probation violation.

LANL’s Emergency Services Division Leader Charged With Battery; No Longer Employed

Police have filed charges against Anthony “Tony” R. Stanford, who lost his job as Emergency Operations Division Leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory Friday.

“Mr. Stanford is not currently an employee of the Laboratory. As general policy, because of employee privacy, the Laboratory does not discuss personnel matters,” LANL Spokesperson Kevin Roark said.

Stanford, 56, was formally charged Monday, Feb. 4 with battery and assault against a female employee at the Laboratory.

Search Continues for LANB Bank Robber

The FBI released the following information a few moments ago:

The FBI and Los Alamos Police Department are looking for a woman who robbed Los Alamos National Bank branch at 77 Rover Blvd. in White Rock Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Native American female in her late 20s or early 30s, approximately 5’4” tall, and weighing about 150 pounds.

She may have a scar or tattoo below her left eye.

The suspect wore a black jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt and a gray hooded sweatshirt. She also had on winter gloves.

FBI Takes Over Local Bank Robbery Case

LAPD News:

Los Alamos Police have handed off this afternoon’s bank robbery case of the Los Alamos National Bank in White Rock to the FBI, which is standard procedure.

The latest information obtained by the Los Alamos Daily Post is that the suspect is described as a 5’4” Hispanic woman, mid 20-40 years of age with a blue star tattoo on her face and wearing a black sweatshirt with logo on it.

Both Chamisa Elementary School and Pinon Elementary School in White Rock will keep students in school until parents/guardians pick them up this afternoon.

Breaking News: Police Hunt Woman Suspected of Robbing White Rock LANB

LAPD News:

Early police reports indicate that a robbery occurred this afternoon at Los Alamos National Bank in White Rock.

The suspect is believed to be a female Hispanic, 5′ 4″ and wearing Black sweat shirt, gray pants, Logo on shirt, has Blue Star Tattoo on face. Age: mid 20 to 40.

She was last seen headed toward Smith’s Food and Drug Center on Sherwood Boulevard carrying about $4,000 in cash from the bank in a plastic bag.
