This Friday, April 18, thousands of participants from our community and surrounding areas will take part in the annual pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayó.

This sacred tradition brings a significant increase in pedestrian activity along highways not typically frequented by foot traffic, including N.M. 502, N.M. 501, U.S. 84/285 and N.M. 76.

Motorists: Please be vigilant and exercise caution while traveling these routes, as many pilgrims will be walking along the highways throughout the day and into the evening.

Los Alamos Police Dept. Warns Of More Phone Scams

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is warning residents about a recent phone scam in which callers impersonate deputies from the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Department, falsely claiming that individuals must pay money to clear arrest warrants.

Fortunately, two vigilant citizens recently recognized the scam and refused to comply.

LAPD reminds the community that no law enforcement agency or court will ever contact individuals demanding payment to resolve fines or warrants. If you receive such a call, it is fraudulent.

New Mexico State Police Crime Suppression Agents Apprehend Homicide Suspect And Arrest Two For Drug Trafficking During Route 66 Operation

ALBUQUERQUE – On April 14, 2025, while supporting the ongoing Route 66 Operation, New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Crime Suppression Agents successfully apprehended a homicide suspect and arrested two individuals involved in narcotics trafficking.

During the evening hours, agents received information about the location of homicide suspect Ronald Edward Raymond, 67, who had an active arrest warrant out of Sierra County. NMSP Arrests Man For Stabbing Death In Santa Fe

SANTA FE — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau investigated a stabbing death April 12, 2025, at 3956 Agua Fria Road Space 35 in Santa Fe, resulting in an arrest of a Santa Fe Man. 

Investigations Bureau agents learned at approximately 4:30 p.m., NMSP officers were dispatched to the location following reports of a 46-year-old woman, identified as Minerva Marquez Dominguez who had been stabbed.

ALBUQUERQUE — April 9, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m., New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Crime Suppression Bureau (CSB) agents stopped at a Chevron gas station at 5980 Alameda Blvd. NE, where they observed the driver of a vehicle smoking narcotics.

The registered owner was determined to be 30-year-old Efren Jesus Montes-Quezada, who had an active felony warrant in Texas for Enticement of a Minor for Indecent Purposes Via Telecommunications. Montes-Quezada exited his vehicle when he was contacted by agents and taken into custody on his warrant.

LAPD Large-Scale Training Exercise Saturday

Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will conduct a large-scale department interoperability training exercise from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 12 at the Los Alamos Middle School. Officers will also be using the North Mesa Picnic Grounds as a staging area.
