2024 Safety Town Registration Opens April 22

Get ready for Safety Town! This free program for all children entering kindergarten in the fall will be held 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14 at Barranca Mesa Elementary School.

Body Discovered Behind Building In Downtown Los Alamos

Scene behind the building at 1247 Central Ave. today where the body of a man was discovered lying on the ground in the area near the stairs at left. Los Alamos police officers arrived at the scene to investigate a call of an unresponsive male in his mid-20s. Police confirmed that the man was deceased and reached out to the Office of the Medical Investigator. Police said they are investigating this as an unattended death. State Police Respond To Stabbing At Tinaja Rest Area

COLFAX COUNTY –At approximately 7:32 a.m. today, April 15, 2024, a New Mexico State Police (NMSP) officer, while conducting a traffic stop near Tinaja Rest Area in Colfax County, was alerted by a maintenance worker about a stabbing incident at the rest area.

When the NMSP officer arrived on the scene, he witnessed Colfax County Deputies and Fire personnel providing medical assistance to the stabbing victim, 79-year-old David Adams, who was later pronounced deceased.

High school students interested in spending a day with the FBI in Albuquerque are encouraged to apply for the agency’s 2024 Teen Academy, which will be held July 17-19.

New Mexico State Police Crime Scene Team’s Expert Testimony Contributes To Guilty Verdict In Fort Sumner Double Homicide

On Oct. 2, 2022, New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Crime Scene Team (CST) assisted DeBaca County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation of a double homicide at a residence in Ft. Sumner. The residence was owned by Kelby Randolph. A married couple that resided with Randolph were killed inside this residence with a firearm.

FBI: Mescalero Man Gets 15 Years For Abusing Child

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE A federal judge handed down a 15-year prison sentence to a Mescalero man for sexually abusing a 13-year-old child. At the time of the incident, Dexter Whiskers, 45, an enrolled member of the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe, was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a corrections officer.

There is no parole in the federal system.
