ROSWELL – The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was requested by the Roswell Police Department (RPD) on April 4, 2024 to investigate an officer-involved shooting (OIS) involving RPD detectives at 1300 Meadow Lane.

FBI: Former EPISD Employee Gets 30 Years In Prison

ALBUQUERQUE A federal judge handed down a 30-year prison sentence to a former El Paso Independent School District employee. Last year, Jeffrey Steven Clay, 51, of Anthony, New Mexico, was convicted at trial of one count each of kidnapping and transportation for illegal sexual activity.

There is no parole in the federal system.

The New Mexico State Police Crime Suppression Bureau (CSB) continues to combat major crime issues around the state. The Bureau has specialized units that focus on recovering stolen vehicles, apprehending wanted fugitives, and arresting those involved in drug trafficking organizations. New Mexico State Police Arrest Wanted Fugitive In Taos

NMSP News:

TAOS – The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) along with Taos County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and Taos Police Department (TPD) arrested a wanted fugitive who had absconded.

At approximately 7 p.m. March 19, 2024, NMSP officers received a tip that Alfredo Sanchez, 39, was seen at Peet’s Coffee Shop/Taos Valley Lodge in Taos. Officers learned that Sanchez was absconding from Adult Probation and Parole (APPO) on original charges of homicide.

Officers responded to Peet’s Coffee Shop and located Sanchez’s mother’s vehicle parked in front of one of the rooms of the lodge.

LAPD To Serve At Sheriff’s Posse Lodge Pancake Breakfast To Benefit Special Olympic Athletes Sunday April 7

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will be serving at this month’s pancake breakfast, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, April 7 at the Sheriff’s Posse Lodge.

Local police officers along with special Olympic Athletes from Los Alamos will be raising money for Special Olympic Athletes to compete in area games this year.

The cost for adults is $10, kids 6-10 years is $5 and kids 0-5 years is free.

FBI: New York Man Convicted Of Bank Fraud In Santa Fe

ALBUQUERQUE — A New York man was convicted by a federal jury after 39 minutes of deliberation of a bank fraud charge related to the brutal assault of his father-in-law.

Prosecutors allege the crime was driven by the defendant, Marc Candelaria, 36, of Wantagh, New York, accruing mounting gambling debts at the time.

According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, in the early hours of Sept. 14, 2021, an armed and masked intruder entered Candelaria’s father-in-law’s home and forced him to write a check for $23,000 and demanded he leave all other portions of the check blank. Read More

New Mexico State Police Rescue Injured Hikers

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Aircraft Section rescued two individuals injured while hiking near the Embudo Trailhead.

At approximately 5 p.m. March 27, 2024, the crew of the NMSP Aircraft Section in Albuquerque launched from Double Eagle Airport to conduct a hoist rescue in the Sandia Mountains in Bernalillo County.
