The County of Los Alamos introduced a controversial choice that our community must make through the Recreation Center Bond election: Should the County be allowed to compete with small businesses and nonprofits in our local fitness industry?
 
Supporters of this Bond claim that the absence of a Recreation Center is a central stumbling block in attracting visitors and new businesses to the County. However, they have failed to recognize how this Recreation Center will be positioned to directly, and unfairly, compete with the very local businesses

Interior Department Releases List Of Monuments Under Review, Announces Formal Public Comment Period

WASHINGTON D.C. ― The Department of the Interior announced the first ever formal public comment period for members of the public to officially weigh in on monument designations under the Antiquities Act of 1906, and the Department released a list of monuments under review under the President’s Executive Order 13792, issued April 26, 2017.

Councilors Booth Schedule At Farmer’s Market

Two members of the Los Alamos County Council will host a booth at the Farmer’s Market on the following Thursdays:
  • May 18;
  • June 15;
  • July 20;
  • Sept. 14; and
  • Oct. 19.
This is an informal setting open to residents who would like to stop by anytime between 9-11 a.m. with comments, concerns or questions.
 
The Council also hosts an information booth during the annual Los Alamos County Fair, which this year is Saturday, Aug. 12.
