Chicoine: We Need A DA Who Will Enforce The Law

By YVONNE CHICOINE
GOP Candidate for District Attorney

I am seeking election as your District Attorney because I believe the people of Los Alamos, Rio Arriba and Santa Fe Counties deserve a District Attorney who is committed to restoring respect for the rule of law.

We need change.  We need a District Attorney who makes clear that criminal conduct is unacceptable, and who is willing and unafraid to hold lawbreakers accountable.

Accountability means an end to revolving door justice. It means greater safety and security for all of us. Accountability makes second chances possible. Read More

Robinson: Why I Support UNM-LA

By JAMES ROBINSON
Los Alamos

Almost 10 years ago, I walked across the stage and received my high school diploma. After all the pomp and circumstance and 12 years in school (nine spent as an out of district student), my only plan was to get out of Los Alamos. Packing up, I moved out to California that August to live the Hollywood life. However, after nine months, the Hollywood life beat me down. Realizing that I could not make it in California, I moved back home and started to look at furthering my education.

I had friends at every college in New Mexico, so I started weighing my options. UNM of course was at Read More

Letter To The Editor: Why I Am Voting For Question 1

By KYLE WHEELER
Los Alamos

I will be voting FOR Question 1 to abolish the position of an elected office of the sheriff. I first got involved in this issue when I served on the Charter Review Committee. We thoroughly reviewed the Charter line by line. The issue of an elected sheriff was one of quite a few issues we considered. Since then, I have been reading the various letters and opinions on this issue and want to add my reasons for supporting Question 1.

First of all, the idea that the sheriff is going to root out corruption in our town is ridiculous. I’ve known many elected officials in this town over the Read More

Letter To The Editor: Why Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard Should Continue Serving Our House District 43

By BILL WADT
Los Alamos

I want to share why I will be voting for Stephanie Garcia Richard to continue serving as our State Representative.

The good news is that both candidates, Stephanie and Sharon Stover, are dedicated public servants who clearly care about children and youth and building a more vibrant economy that benefits everyone.

However, there are three major reasons why I think a vote for Stephanie is a vote to support our teachers and improve education and a vote for Sharon is a vote to support our Governor’s current education policies that denigrate our teachers and hurt our students. Read More

Letter To The Editor: Why I Am Voting For Sharon

By KELLY BONER
Los Alamos

This election has been polarizing. All the negativity is getting exhausting and I am excited it will soon be over.

I would like to take a minute of your time to let you know why I am supporting Sharon Stover for NM House Rep., District 43. My letter is not about specific issues nor is it against our current rep., (I’ve heard she’s a fine person) it is only about the person I know and why I am voting for Sharon.

To me, Sharon is the perfect example of the kind of person I want my state rep to be. She is smart, an extremely hard worker, and she is kind, caring Read More
