ALBUQUERQUE – During a visit to the University of New Mexico’s Science & Technology Park Aug. 28, U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., was briefed on Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) projects from Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories.
The projects ranged from software that helps prevent cybersecurity attacks to reducing water usage for the energy industry.

ALBUQUERQUE—Gov. Susana Martinez participated in a groundbreaking Tuesday on a new primary care clinic in Albuquerque’s North Valley. University of New Mexico leaders joined Martinez for the groundbreaking.
The 16,000-square-foot facility will be staffed with faculty physicians, residents, nurse practitioners and physicians’ assistants, and will feature about 20 exam rooms, an onsite lab and pharmacy. The new clinic is expected to open in late spring 2015. UNM estimates that when fully operational, it will serve 1,500-1,800 patients per month.

U.S. SENATE News:New pilot program seeks to improve veterans’ access to health care and benefits in rural and underserved communities
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Sen. Tom Udall announced that the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services has been selected to participate in a new pilot program to help better serve rural veterans.
