Udall Warns Utility Consumers About Scam During Service Outages

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, which oversees and funds the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), warned New Mexicans about scams directed at utility customers. 
 
The FTC recently issued a consumer alert about scammers who claim to work for a utility company and seek cash payment for reconnecting service during power outages caused by severe weather or other events.

Governor Breaks Ground On New Healthcare Clinic

ALBUQUERQUE—Gov. Susana Martinez participated in a groundbreaking Tuesday on a new primary care clinic in Albuquerque’s North Valley. University of New Mexico leaders joined Martinez for the groundbreaking.

The 16,000-square-foot facility will be staffed with faculty physicians, residents, nurse practitioners and physicians’ assistants, and will feature about 20 exam rooms, an onsite lab and pharmacy. The new clinic is expected to open in late spring 2015. UNM estimates that when fully operational, it will serve 1,500-1,800 patients per month.
