County: 37th Street & Piñon Park Playgrounds Closed For Safety During Renovation Work

The Community Services Department (CSD), in partnership with Los Alamos Landscaping & More, LLC, will temporarily close the 37 th Street and Piñon Park Playgrounds during construction to complete planned renovations. FBI: Arizona Man Pleads Guilty To Sexual Abuse

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — An Arizona man admitted to engaging in sexual acts with a victim using threats and intimidation.

According to court documents, in August of 2021, Fernando Yatsatie, Jr., 47, a member of the Zuni Pueblo, unlawfully engaged in in a sexual act with a victim, placing them in fear.

Yatsatie pleaded guilty to sexual abuse. At sentencing, Yatsatie is subject to a sentence of up to life in prison. Upon his release from prison, Yatsatie will be subject to no less than five years and up to life of supervised release.

Boundary Fence Repair And Hazard Tree Removal Begins In The Hermit’s Peak Calf Canyon Burned Area

SANTA FE — Crews will repair boundary fences and remove hazard trees in the Hermit’s Peak Calf Canyon (HPCC) burned area of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) beginning early fall 2025. This project reduces wildfire risk, prevents power outages along the Mora-San Miguel (MSM) Cooperative power line, and keeps livestock out of nearby villages, including San Geronimo, San Pablo, San Ignacio, Las Dispensas, Gallinas, and Cow Creek.

County Survey Will Gauge Gas Safety Awareness

An upcoming survey will measure safety awareness of natural gas among Los Alamos County community members. It will also give insight into the effectiveness of natural gas safety outreach efforts of the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU).

Called the GOAL survey, short for Gas Overall Awareness Level, it is a product of the American Public Gas Association and will be conducted starting on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Natural gas customers and non-customers will be polled to determine their gas safety knowledge.
