LAHS NJROTC Seeks Community Support For 3rd Annual ‘Til Valhalla Run

The Los Alamos High School NJROTC will host the 3rd annual ‘Til Valhalla 5K and Fun Run starting at 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 13 at Sullivan Field. Last year’s run raised more than $7,800 to support Mission 22, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing veteran suicide and promoting veteran mental health.

Bandelier To Host Wilderness Project Day Saturday Sept. 27

Bandelier will be celebrating National Public Lands Day with special events and a fee free day on Saturday, Sept. 27.

In honor of National Public Lands Day and recognizing September as National Wilderness Month, the park will be hosting a Wilderness Project Day on Saturday, Sept. 27. The park is looking for up to 20 volunteers who would like to participate in a special project. Volunteers will work alongside park rangers and will spend the day building Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs) in Frijoles Canyon. NMDGF Resumes Debit, Credit Card Sales; Resolves Payment Processing System, Online License Sales Issues

SANTA FE — Issues affecting the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish’s payment processing system have been resolved, allowing the Department to process credit and debit cards for license and permit purchases.

Licenses and permits can now be purchased in-person using debit or credit cards at Department offices and vendors statewide, as well as through the Department’s online licensing system.

After 50 years of service to the children and families of Northern New Mexico, Los Alamos School of Gymnastics has closed. 

The organization began in the late 1970s. Maureen Hudson (a Los Alamos Public Schools PE teacher) ran a tumbling class in her backyard with a strip of mats, inspiring the love of gymnastics. Early predictions for the upcoming winter are for a weak La Nina pattern. La Nina usually means lower precipitation and warmer than average temperatures.  

However, the Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a cold and wet winter for New Mexico. Let’s hope they are right. 

One river that seems to still be holding up well is the Pecos River. Streamflows throughout the drainage are near, at or above  normal.
