The community is invited to “Preventing Conflict on Backcountry Trails” – a live webinar from American Trails 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Los Alamos Nature Center, 2600 Canyon Road. The webinar will begin promptly at 11 a.m. and attendance is free.

Outfitters, Guides Must Submit Proposals For Permits On Santa Fe National Forest By Feb. 15

SANTA FE  Commercial guides and outfitters seeking 2016 special use permits to operate on Santa Fe National Forest lands must submit proposals no later than Feb. 15. 
 
Proposals received after that date will not be accepted for this calendar year. The Feb. 15 date coincides with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish deadline to be included in the outfitter pool for state license tag drawings without penalty.

Play Putt-Putt Golf For Prizes At Nature Center

The Los Alamos County Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Division is taking over the Los Alamos Nature Center and putting up a putt-putt course for the evening at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Play through the nature center and win free passes to the pool or ice rink, and learn about the latest news on local trails, try out some snowshoes and more. This fun, family-friendly event is open to all ages.

PEEC Offers Snowshoe Hike To Cañada Bonita Saturday

Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is offering a beginning snowshoe hike from Pajarito ski hill parking lot to Cañada Bonita 9-11 a.m. Saturday.

PEEC’s educator Siobhan Niklasson will lead participants along a showshoe trail maintained by the Southwest Nordic Ski Club and point out ecological features of the winter forest. This family-friendly hike will cover 3 miles and about 300 feet of elevation change.
