First Fee Free Day At Bandelier And Other Federal Areas Is Monday

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, Jan. 18,  and is this year’s first Fee Free Day at Bandelier National Monument and other National Park areas all over the country, that charge entrance fees, including the Valles Caldera National Preserve. At Bandelier, there also will be discounts at the bookstore and gift shop.
 
In addition, entry will be free at Fish and Wildlife Service, US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management sites where entrance fees are charged. This is the first fee free day

SANTA FE  The Santa Fe National Forest will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites and amenities Monday, Jan. 18, to honor the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.
 
Fees will be waived at Santa Fe National Forest sites that normally charge a day-use fee and campgrounds that are not on the National Recreation Reservation System

SFNF Offices Closed MLK Holiday Jan. 18

SFNF News:
 
SANTA FE  All Santa Fe National Forest offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
 
Forest offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Temporary Road and Area Closures Announced On Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – The Santa Fe National Forest has issued a temporary closure order for many roads and areas on the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District restricting the use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), two-wheel and four-wheel motorized vehicles. Snowmobiles are not prohibited by the order.

The closures have been implemented to protect natural resources and infrastructure, including wildlife, watershed and roads, and to ensure public health and safety during extreme soil moisture and heavy snowfall periods.
