Vargas is Top Predictor in Weekly Pace Race

Lisabeth Alfaro Vargas was the top predictor in the weekly pace race at 6 seconds off her predicted time. 
 
The run started at Fireman Park at the junction of 45th Street and Arizona Avenue and ran through the Western Area including the Perimeter Trail.
 
Other top predictors were Bob Westervelt with a 18 second differential, Katie Gattiker recording 51 seconds off and Ted Romero 67 seconds off his estimate.

Los Alamos Bridge Club Hosts Regional Tournament

LOS ALAMOS BRIDGE CLUB News:

The Los Alamos unit of the American Contract Bridge League held its annual sectional bridge tournament July 27-29 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. There were 148 tables in play over the three day event, 19 tables better than 2011. Of the 154 participants, 117 came from out of town including 44 from Santa Fe, 37 from Albuquerque, 14 from Taos, 10 from Texas, six from Arizona, four from Colorado and two from California. Registration for Fall YMCA Racquetball Starts Wednesday

 
LOS ALAMOS FAMILY YMCA News:
 
 
The Fall Racquetball League has four skill level divisions. Registration is Aug. 1 to 29 and the season is Sept. 4 to Nov. 16.
 
Players will be matched against other players with similar experience levels and will have games scheduled each week in the 10-week season culminating in a tournament.
 
Cost is $30 for Y members and $45 just for the program.
 
Adult Co-ed Volleyball League will be a casual/recreational 4-on-4 season consisting of six weeks of games and final tournament at the YMCA.
 
Sundays 1-3 p.m. from Oct. 7 to Nov.

Kinkead and Kluegel Tie for Best Predictor in Weekly Pace Race

Six pace race participants tied for three top delta times in this week’s race held on American Springs Road in the Jemez Mountains.
 
Sue Kinkead and Lynn Kluegel tied for best prediction at 24 seconds off their predicted time. 
 
Dara McKinney and Christie Kelly each had a 28 second differential and Katie Gattiker and Bob Edgar both came in at 33 seconds off.
 
Daniel Romero was the fastest male finisher on the one mile course at 6:24. 
 
Holly Trellue was the top female with a time of 12:39.

Enjoy Putt-Putt and the Muppets at East Park Tonight

COUNTY News:

The Ponderosa Putt-Putt Tournament is 6-7:30 p.m., today (Wednesday, July 25) at East Park.

Participants will test their skills at the Ponderosa Putt-Putt Tournament. The tournament is broken into three age groups, 5-7, 8-11 and 12+.

Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each age group.

The Movies in the Parks is 7:45-10 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 25) at East Park.

UK Soccer Camp Starts Next Week

 
The Family YMCA is hosting the UK Soccer Camp program next week July 30 – Aug 3 at North Mesa Field for youth ages 4-16.
 
The cost for half days (9 a.m. to noon) is $100 and a $160 for full days (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). The full day program is for youth ages 8-16 only.
 
This is a great program for soccer players of all experience levels with a focus on individual skills development and teamwork. Scholarships are available through funding from United Way.

Duane Marr Is Top Predictor

Twenty five runners took advantage of cloudy weather to compete for best time predictions on the one and three mile Turkey Trot pace race courses in Bayo Canyon and on North Mesa Tuesday night.

Ribbon Cut on North Mesa Disc Golf Course

Los Alamos County Parks and Trails Division Superintendant Jeff Humpton cuts the ribbon to the entrance of the North Mesa Disc Golf Course Saturday. The Los Alamos County Parks and Recreation Dvision held the ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the newly renovated North Mesa Disc Golf Course. A tournament was held after the ceremony with participants from Los Alamos, White Rock and a few non-locals.
