Los Alamos Hilltopper Girls Face Tough Test Friday In First Round Of State Tournament

The sixth-seeded Los Alamos Hilltopper girls basketball team will take on a stout contender in the opening round of the Class 4A state tournament Friday.

Los Alamos will square off against 11th-seeded Valley at 6 p.m. Friday. Los Alamos will host Friday’s game at Griffith Gymnasium by virtue of being the higher seed.

Friday’s game will be broadcast on the Los Alamos Daily Post’s YouTube channel.

LAHS Basketball Hosts 1st Round State Tournament Friday

LAHS News:

The Los Alamos High School (LAHS) Varsity Girls Basketball team will host the Valley High School Vikings this Friday in Griffith Gymnasium in the first round of the state tournament. 

The game starts at 6 p.m. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.

There will be no cash sales and all sales are through GoFan. Passes will not be accepted.

The weather will soon be transitioning from winter to spring. We had some pretty cold weather in February, so most of the lakes that were already frozen remain locked up under a covering of ice. It is not unusual for some if not most of these lakes to still have some ice until the end of March.

SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos Youth Rugby season has started, and we are accepting new players. Practices are from 4-6 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Urban Park.

Those interested in joining should bring a mouthguard, cleats, and water to practice. No experience is necessary, only a desire to work as a team and practice hard.

Teams compete in Albuquerque on Saturdays. 

Touch Rugby will start March 13 and meet at the same place.
