March looks like it’s going to be a month of change in more ways than just winter to spring. The weather is changing right along with the seasons. After a winter of cold temperatures with a new weather system rolling in every week, temperatures are rising above average during the day. Where we used to be calling to see if the ice is thick enough to fish on, we now call to ask if there is enough open water to fish from the bank.

Hilltoppers Hockey Team Are 2022-2023 State Champions!

The Los Alamos Hilltopper Hockey Team closed out the end of year tournament in Santa Fe with a thrilling 4 to 2 victory over the Cibola Cougars. The final game of the season saw a couple of lead changes with the deciding goal coming in the third period, courtesy of senior Jake Sorenson. Sorenson had a hat trick on the afternoon and the game was sealed with an empty net goal by Wyatt Guffee.

The Los Alamos Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) traveled Saturday, Feb. 25 to Cibola High School in Albuquerque to compete in a military skills meet. They competed in color guard, unarmed regulation drill and physical fitness, along with sporter and precision marksmanship.

Los Alamos County Golf Course: 2023 Season Schedule

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Golf Course staff are working to prepare the golf course for the 2023 Golf Season.

The golf course will offer a soft opening March 10-12 with:

  • Tee times 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
  • Range hours 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
  • Golf shop 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and
  • Rentals returned no later than 5:30 p.m.

The golf course will be closed March 13-14.

March 15-31 the golf course will be open 7 days per week with:

  • Tee times 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
  • Range opening at 8:30 a.m.;
  • Golf shop open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and
  • Rentals returned no later than 6:30 p.m.
