Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers traveled to Precision Gymnastics in Albuquerque Nov. 22 for the annual New Mexico Judges Cup meet.
 
Megan Brown had the high score of the day for the Los Alamos team. She took first place all around in the silver younger division with 36.30. Brown also placed first on floor with a 9.05 and tied for first on vault with 9.20.

The Los Alamos School of Gymnastics boys’ team had their first meet at home Dec. 5. 
 
Six level 4, three level 5, and one level six gymnast from Los Alamos competed in Elf Magic.
 
In the older level 4 competition Jon Gilbert was first with 55.50, Pasha Trudolyubov was second with 51.70 and Caleb Kersteins was third with 44.40. 
 
In the younger level 4 division Munayo Ferreira was first with 53.40, Dominic Valdez was second with 46.20 and Turo Yarotski was third with 34.60.

Red River Skijoring Races Jan. 16-17

RED RIVER  The inaugural Red River Skijoring races are noon Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday Jan. 17 on River Street in Red River. 
 
In skijoring, a skier hangs on to a rope attached to a horse and glides across the snow. It is like horse-drawn waterskiing on snow. Best of all Skijoring is a thrilling spectator sport. 
 
With speeds of up to 40 mph, the action is fast-paced and exciting. You see the skiers being towed by a horse at a full gallop. Horse. Cowboy. Skier. Rope. This high-adrenaline, sport combines all four.
