Gattiker Top Predictor In Aquatic Center Trail Pace Race

Katie Gattiker was the best predictor at 5 seconds off her prediction in the Atomic City Road Runners Club’s weekly pace race held on the “Jim Billen” Trail in Pueblo Canyon behind the Aquatic Center with an accompanying light rain. 
 
Jessica Baumgaertel was next with a 48 second differential followed by Jackie Marr with at 92 seconds off as well as the first female on the 1 mile paved course at 14:06. Four-year-old Diego Leonard had a 93 second difference and also was the overall winner on the 1 mile paved course with a time of 12:29.

Burton Krohn was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held on the Lower Water Canyon Trail off N.M. 4. He was 48 seconds off his predicted time.
 
Other accurate predictors were Mark Bjorklund with a 50 second differential, Steve Shook at 53 seconds off and Roxana Candia recording a 66 second difference.

TORGV Registration Is Open

The Tour of the Rio Grande Valley (TORGV) ride is Sunday, Sept. 14. 

Registration is $60, ($15 late fee after Sept. 3–$75 total) and includes the ride with maps, rest stops, sag support, TORGV T-shirt and other goodies. Riders may register online until Sept. 12. Riders are welcome to register day of event (cash and check only).

TORGV was started by the Albuquerque Wheelmen in the 1970’s and ran for more than 20 years.

It was a cool evening Tuesday for about 40 runners who tackled runs at the top of Barrranca Mesa and down toward the golf course during the Atomic City Road Runners Pace Race.

The fastest 1 milers were Patricia Burnside @ 8:05 and Diego Leonard @ 11:27.

The fastest 3 milers were Ted Romero @ 21.17 and Nikol Strother @ 21.28.

Steve Shook on the 3 mile run was 1 sec off his prediction , and Mark Bjorklund was 14 secs off, and Jackie Peckham was 21 secs off her 1 mile.

The next pace run is 6 p.m. Tuesday at 2.8 miles west of the junction of N.M. 4 and Pajarito Road toward Bandelier. Read More
