Interim Head Coach of LAHS Boys Basketball Program Named

LAHS SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos High School Athletic Department would like to announce that Mike Kluk has been named Interim Head Coach of the Boys Basketball Program effective Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. 

Coach Fil Dominguez has resigned due to work and health of a family member. The athletic department appreciates all of his hard work and contributions that he has made to the basketball program.

Registration Open For Junior Wrestling

YMCA News:
 
Registration is now open for the Junior Wrestling Program at the Family YMCA. The session will run Jan. 14 through April 25.
 
Ken Nadeau will teach the class, which is limited to 20 students. The program is open to boys and girls in grades K-6 and beginners in grades 7-8. Cost for the season is $90 or  $60 for Y members.
 
Practices are 4:15-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Y Gym at 15th Street and Iris.
 
There are separate optional tournaments during the season at an additional cost. To sign up register online.

Thursday’s Win Brings LAHS Girls Basketball Season Record to 6-6

TOPPER News:

Thursday’s 55-39 win against West Las Vegas brings the Hilltopper Girls basketball season record to 6-6.

The team played a solid game overall, leading from start to finish against West Las Vegas. West Las Vegas pulled within 2 points at the beginning of the 3rd quarter before the Hilltoppers pulled away for good.

They played a good defensive game. Kiana Zerr led with 18 points, 11 rebounds and Kenzie Logan scored 9 points.

Kaeley Bustos, Anna Clark, Suyana Ferreria, and Emilee Maestas of Los Alamos School of Gymnastics placed first in the all-around competition in their divisions at a home meet Nov. 9. The gymnasts brought home 21 medals for their team.
