Coach Phil Coe with Los Alamos athlete Michael Lewis Moore who received the 2013 Marly Pineda Memorial Award for Men’s Long Distance swimming in New Mexico. Moore has been swimming for the Pajarito Aquatic Club, under the supervision of Coach Phil Coe, and he is also on the 2013-2014 LAHS Hilltoppers swim team, coached by Stu Corliss. Marly Pineda was a New Mexico resident of Bosque Farms, and was a 2008 graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she was a distinguished four-year member of the swimming and diving team. HOCKEY News:
Co-sponsored by the Los Alamos Hockey Association, this is a chance for youth of all ages to try ice hockey on for size. LAHA volunteer coaches will be available to assist with equipment fitting, helmet and skate fitting, and on-ice activities.
Sessions will take place at 3:45 p.m. for all youth 18 and under and 5 p.m. for girls 18 and under Saturday, Nov. 23. Be sure to get there early to try on equipment and talk with coaches prior to going out on the ice.

Ashley Bustos, Anna Clark and Suyana Ferreria of Los Alamos School of Gymnastics placed first in the all-around competition in their divisions at a meet Nov. 2 in Rio Rancho. The gymnasts brought home 19 medals for their team.

Los Alamos High School Boys and Girls Cross Country teams won the State Championships Saturday at Rio Rancho High. This is the third-straight team title for the Topper boys who edged out Albuquerque Academy 52-54.
Topper Collin Hemez was named boys 4A State Champion after crossing the finish line in 15 minutes, 54.4 seconds.

The Annual CROP Walk/Turkey Trot is 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 with sign up for the event starting at 1 p.m. at Los Alamos Middle School on North Mesa in Los Alamos.
The courses is 2.57 miles and a shorter 1.7 mile course bypassing the horse stables area. Food and drink will be available and everyone who fills out a chance ticket and puts it in the box before or after the runs has a chance to win one of 20-30 turkeys or 20 pumpkin pies after the conclusion of the runs.
