Streamflows in Northern New Mexico have fallen to the lowest level they have had in months. The Rio Grande at Cerro near the state border near Colorado was flowing at just 66.5 cubic-feet-per-second. The Chama River above the town of Chama was at 21.4 cubic-feet-per-second. The Pecos River was flowing at 42.3 cubic-feet-per-second.

These flows are well-below normal for this time of year. They make for good fishing, but the low water requires a stealthy approach and accurate casts.

Aurea Rojas was the top predictor in the Atomic City Road Runner’s final weekly pace race of the 2024 season held Tuesday on the Canyon Rim Trail. She was 1 second off her predicted time.

Other accurate predictors were:

  • Jan Velechovsky with a 2 second differential;
  • Lynn Bjorklund recording a 4 second difference as well as the first female finisher on the 3 mile course at 24:10;
  • Roxana Candia at 13 seconds off; and
  • Zach Medin with a 27 second differential.

Pajarito Pickleball Club board members recently collaborated with Los Alamos County to add pickleball to the County’s Open Gym program. This free opportunity is supported by the club and is open to the public. Open Gym Pickleball is available 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Auxiliary Gym at Los Alamos High School.
