Comments Sought On State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)

SANTA FE The public is invited to comment on the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s 5th Amendment to the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
 
The program will serve as a four year plan for the state’s federal aid highway program.
 
The STIP contains proposed road and bridge projects and is required under the federal legislation. Projects on the list are on federal and state highways (i.e. Interstates, US or NM routes).

Traffic Alert: Intermittent Lane Closure / Flagging Operations / Sidewalk Closure Nov. 19-21 at 614 Trinity

Traffic Alert:

Flagging operations will commence 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday Nov. 19 to Wednesday Nov. 21, while crews close lanes of traffic for underground utility work and repairs at 614 Trinity Dr.

Road Work On Jemez Ranger District

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – The USDA Forest Service will be installing cattle guards on Forest Road 105 (Sulfur Creek Road) and Forest Road 106 (Thompson Ridge Road) during the week of Nov. 12. 

These roads will be impassible from approximately 9:30 a.m. to no later than 5 p.m. when this work is being conducted.

Anticipated schedule and locations:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 14 – Forest Road 105, just north of the Elk Valley residential development; and
  • Thursday, Nov. 15 – Forest Road 106, just north of the junction of Forest Roads 105 and 106, which will impact the Thompson Ridge residential development.

RTD Veterans Holiday Closure Nov. 12

RTD News:
 
The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) has announced that the RTD “Blue Buses,” will not be in service Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday, however the 255 Mountain Trail will operate.
 
The 255 Mountain Trail and the 305 Taos Express will both operate Sunday, Nov. 11.
 
The NCRTD thanks and honors all veterans for the time they served and the sacrifices they, and their families, made for our country!

Rio Arriba Issues Winter Storm Warning: Heavy Snow

Rio Arriba Emergency Services News:

A fast moving storm system will deliver a quick burst of winter weather to northern New Mexico this evening through Wednesday in Rio Arriba County.

Rain and high terrain snow showers will develop along a cold front entering northern New Mexico later today. Rain will change to snow over the northern high terrain and the Northeast Highlands and Plains as colder air overspreads the region tonight.

Traffic Alert UPDATE: Postponed – US 84/285 Reduced To One Lane At Nambe

UPDATE: Contractor will not be working today due to equipment repairs needed. Road construction will resume Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Traffic Alert:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has announced the road closure today of U.S. 84/285 from mile marker 181 to mile marker 183, at the intersection of CR 109 north of Nambe.

U.S. 84/285 northbound and southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane. The contractor will be paving the northbound lanes from CR 109 to NM 503 at Nambe and then move to the southbound lanes from NM 503 to CR 109.

Deputy Injured In Crash With Suspected Drunk Driver

ESPANOLA – At around 7 p.m. Thursday, the New Mexico State Police investigated a crash involving a Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office (RASO) deputy on U.S. Highway 84 near milepost 204.

The initial investigation indicated that a deputy with RASO was traveling north on U.S. 84 around the mile post 204 north of Espanola. A Nissan sedan driven by Laverne Mondragon, 42, of Espanola failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled out in front of the deputy as she turned from a private driveway onto U.S. 84. The deputy took evasive action to avoid the crash and the vehicles collided.

STATEWIDE  – State Police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints; saturation patrols; and registration, insurance and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of November 2018
