BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Acting Administrator K. Jane Williams recognized six rural transit systems Monday that exemplify good community service.

Rotary Hears Talks On NCRTD, Panajachel, Scouting

Jim Nagle, public information officer for the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) the Blue Bus told Rotarians recently about the ballot initiative reauthorizing existing funding for bus services. This is not a tax increase. From fiscal year 2016-17 data, the NCRTD provided almost 800,000 passenger trips in a service area of more than 10,000 square miles. There are 419 bus stops, with a 53-vehicle fleet. New Mexico Environment Department Awards APS Grant Funding For Early Replacement Of Five Buses

ALBUQUERQUE The Albuquerque Public School District has been awarded $380,626.00 in grant funding from the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA).
 
The grant provides partial funding for the early replacement of five older, more polluting diesel-fueled school buses with five new gasoline-fueled school buses that meet the current EPA emissions standards for heavy-duty vehicles.

Utility Work On Quartz Begins Tuesday

COUNTY News:

Electric crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will undertake a project to replace electric lines on Quartz Street to improve the neighborhood’s electric reliability.

Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 2 and continue through the beginning of January.

Through traffic along Quartz will be restricted during the day, Monday through Friday, with traffic detoured to Rim Road. Full access to Quartz will be restored by late afternoon as crews wrap up for the day.

La Senda, Pajarito Acres Microsealing Begins Friday

COUNTY News:

Starting Friday morning, construction crews will begin applying a microseal to all of the roadways in Pajarito Acres and La Senda in White Rock.

Weather allowing, crews anticipate this portion of the project to last 11 days and crews are planning to work 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., seven days a week.

Expect representatives from the contractor applying the coating to be visiting residents door to door leaving information including the proposed schedule, coordination instructions and contact information.

SANTA FE The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) sponsors annual statewide child safety seat clinics 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 29.
