Alert: Traffic Signal Mast Arm Pole Replacement On Diamond At Arkansas Sept. 15-16

COUNTY News:

Traffic and Streets will be working with vendor Bixby Electric to replace a mast arm pole on the traffic signal on Diamond Drive at Arkansas Avenue.

The project will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 and end by 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16.

Traffic heading south on Arkansas Avenue to the Diamond Drive intersection will be detoured to 41st Street to Alabama Avenue. Westbound traffic on Diamond Drive will note a bike lane closure and a right lane closure. Traffic will be diverted to the left most lane.

NM 502 / NM 4 Re-construction Project In Final Stretch

NNSA/DOE News:

Road crews expect to complete the paving portion this week of the N.M. 502 road re-construction project.

Striping – the final piece of the summer-long project – will take place next week.

Striping, which includes a shadow car following the striping truck, will take place this week and next week, alternating between East Jemez, N.M. 4, the N.M. 4 to N.M. 502 ramp, and both sides of N.M. 502.

Commuters are asked to continue following traffic signs and speed limits during the last phase of this project.

Update: New Mexico State Police Investigate Fatal Bus Crash On I-40 … Death Toll Rises To Eight

NMSP News:

The New Mexico State Police responded to a fatal collision around 12:30 p.m., Thursday involving a semi-tractor-trailer and a Greyhound bus on Interstate 40 around mile post 50 in McKinley County. Interstate 40 westbound was completely closed for approximately eight hours because of this crash and subsequent investigation.

Traffic Alert: Utility Work On Diamond Saturday

COUNTY News:

Paul Parker Construction, under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will excavate on the north side of Diamond Drive at 35th Street to repair a water line. 

This utility work will occur on Saturday. Sept. 1 only.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions at the construction zone beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Construction should be completed by evening and all lanes open to west and east bound traffic, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

NM State Police Investigate Fatal Bus Crash On I-40

NMSP News:

The New Mexico State Police responded Thursday to a fatal collision involving a semi-truck and a Greyhound bus on Interstate 40 around mile post 50 in McKinley County.

The preliminary investigation indicates a semi-truck traveling east on Interstate 40 suffered a tire blow out causing the semi to cross the median into opposing west bound traffic of Interstate 40. The semi-truck collided head on with a westbound Greyhound passenger bus carrying more than forty-eight passengers.
