I would like to clarify a misconception in the letter from Mr. Dowden (link), and add a bit of history:

As the Los Alamos Daily Post editor pointed out in the earlier letter from Mr. Antos (link), it is indeed the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) that is building the roundabout (RDB) at the main entrance to Los Alamos, not Los Alamos County, because it involves an official New Mexico State highway.

Central Avenue will be closed to traffic between 20th Street and Oppenheimer from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, for the safety of adults and children attending Wildfire 2017 and the Elks Lodge Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Ashley Pond Park.

Are you kidding me? Using eminent domain for a roundabout that the people of Los Alamos do not want or need is by far and away one of stupidest things our County Government will ever do!
 
I guess it’s ok for a bunch of our spendthrift county councilors to do what they damn well please in spite of the total inconvenience it will cause the people of Los Alamos.
 
I personally believe that our council should put this kind of inconvenience up to a public vote that requires a 75 percent approval of citizenry of Los Alamos before they throw

RTD Adds Bus To Chimayo Route On Good Friday

In addition to its regular 150 Chimayo Route bus, the North Central Regional Transit District (RTD “Blue Bus”) will be adding an additional bus along its Española to Chimayo route to accommodate people making the annual pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayo on Good Friday, April 14.
 
Two ADA accessible buses will run on a continuous loop throughout the day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (the first bus begins at 8:00 and the second at 8:30) departing from the Española Transit Center on Oñate across from Cook’s Hardware.

West Road Closed 9 a.m. To 2 p.m. Saturday!

Los Alamos County’s Traffic Division has been informed by LANL that they will be closing West Road Saturday, April 8. West Road is owned by LANL and the closure is necessary for safety reasons as  tree trimming activities will occur between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in this area.

West Road is the road that leads into Los Alamos Canyon to the Ice Rink and frequently used by motorists to access Pajarito Mountain. Motorists will need to travel through the LANL security portal in order to access Pajarito Mountain during these hours tomorrow.

SANTA FE ― Today, the New Mexico Department of Transportation released a video in coordination with National Work Zone Awareness Week to encourage motorists to be safe when driving through a work zone.
