Gas Line Work To Occur On Grand Canyon Thursday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities has announced that gas line maintenance will occur Thursday, May 9, near 122 Grand Canyon in White Rock. The work will involve the installation of an anode, which is a normal preventative measure.

The work is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and should conclude by 4 p.m.

Drivers should expect to see flagging operations and Grand Canyon traffic reduced to one lane as they approach the work zone. They are reminded to slow down and drive cautiously. Read More

NMDOT: U.S. 84 Closed In Both Directions At Rio del Oso Bridge … Detour In Place, Expect Delays

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has closed U.S. 84 in both directions at the bridge over the Rio del Oso until further notice.

This afternoon an NMDOT inspector discovered damage that compromised the integrity of the bridge. It is NMDOT’s understanding that the damage was caused by the contractor during repair construction.

NMDOT staff is on site evaluating the bridge and the extent of damage. A detour is in place and signage is posted. Message boards are being placed along the detour routes to guide motorists through detours below.

The meeting opened with the introduction of new Board member Joshua Muck. There remain two open seats on the Transportation Board, and the Chair invited members of the community to consider serving. The remainder of the sitting Board members were in attendance.

Water Outage, Road Closure Underway In Quemazon

COUNTY News:

An emergency water valve repair is creating a water outage and road closure today, May 6, in Quemazon. A valve that was scheduled to be replaced has failed prior to its repair date resulting in the emergency.

Residents located between Sinuoso and Sereno roads along Quemazon Place will experience a water outage. Quemazon Place will be closed in this section and traffic will detour down Sinuoso and back through Sereno.

Traffic controls remain in place for the work zone and drivers are asked to exercise caution. Read More
